A naive girl's love for Switzerland is put to the test in this satiric comedy. Irina is a woman from Russia who all her life has always been fascinated by Switzerland and longs to live there some day, though her notion of Swiss life has more to do with Heidi and old movies set in the Alps than reality.

Mientras tanto la programadora del ejército ruso Natalya Siminova es la única superviviente de su equipo a un macabro plan del general Ourumov para hacerse con Goldeneye, un arma espacial ultrasecreta que emite pulsos nucleares que inutilizan cualquier equipo electrónico. In 1939, after barely escaping the Nazis, a Gypsy family returns to Switzerland only to be torn apart by racial persecution in the benign guise of children's welfare. This fictionalized story of Jana, an eight-year-old Gypsy girl snatched from her parents and consigned to a life of orphanages and bleak foster homes, is based on a little-known chapter of Swiss history: From 1926 to 1972, the state-supported Pro Juventute, a children's aid foundation, forcibly removed some 700 Gypsy children from their families, in order to sever the ties with their culture and assimilate them to a "better way of life." The underlying aim was to preempt a new generation's caravans from following their nomadic traditions along Switzerland's country lanes.

Inspirado por las historias de prosperidad de turcos en Suiza, Haydar convence a su mujer para emigrar de forma ilegal a Suiza. Venden sus pertenencias y un pequeño terreno a cambio de un pasaje, y emprenden viaje junto a uno de sus hijos, dejando a los otros seis en Turquía al cuidado de los abuelos. En el transcurso del viaje tendrán que enfrentarse a todo tipo de humillaciones y a la discriminación por su origen.
