Two millennials: Richard, a film studies student, and Ethan, a music producer preparing to launch his own startup—share a flat in Macau with a cherished washing machine, affectionately named R3D2. When they suddenly need to dispose of it, though, the two Westerners embark on a nine-minute journey of desperation, misdemeanors, and language barriers that folds the history of Macau into a dryly funny take on the myth of Sisyphus.

The film is inspired by the Mário de Sá-Carneiro short story, where the narration is made by Professor Antena's assistant who walks by his side when he is run over in a perhaps enigmatic way.

After a stint in the army fighting in Angola, a soldier comes home to find his sweetheart has married his brother. He makes advances towards his sister-in-law, but she turns him down. Discouraged, the man meets a new girlfriend who vows to escape the town's crushing poverty even if she has to steal.
