República Checa 2013 Tarja Turunen explica: "La idea de tener una orquesta sinfónica, un coro y el Sr. Terrana en la batería era originalmente mía. Mike ha hecho una grabación con batería sobre piezas clásicas que creo que es genial. Inmediatamente imaginé que actuaría en vivo en un escenario con una orquesta real como parte de un concepto más grande. Creo que este tipo de combinación de instrumentos, particularmente el tocar principalmente música clásica, es muy único. He estado haciendo colaboraciones con orquestas antes y pude prever un gran resultado. Beauty and the Beat is a live collaboration between Tarja & Mike Terrana.[1] The track listing consists in a mix of classical pieces, covers from both Queen and Led Zeppelin, from her past band Nightwish, and Tarja's own songs.

Including three studio videos and a further four full live songs filmed live at the Summer Breeze Festival in Germany in 2002 . All versions feature a new (2005) recording of the song "Sleeping Sun" and a live version of Pink Floyd's "High Hopes" from which this compilation takes its name.

Featured on the soundtrack of the film Alone in the Dark,Wish I Had An Angel became the group's most popular single in Europe and in the United States, next to "Nemo", and their highest placed single in the UK charts. It made it onto two U.S. film soundtracks. Directed by Uwe Boll, "Wish I Had an Angel" was the last video from Once and it features some scenes from the 2005 movie Alone in the Dark, also directed by Boll. Wish I Had an Angel is the second most played song by Nightwish in concert, with well over 470 times, as of August 2018. During Once and Dark Passion Play tours it was always the last song performed. This DVD release features the music video for Wish I Had An Angel, as well as the making of the video.
