Jeanne es una joven francesa que se encuentra en una pequeña ciudad de Crimea durante la Revolución Rusa. Andreas, un oficial zarista que ha abrazado la causa bolchevique, se enamora de Jeanne. Boucherot is assisted in his undertaking by baroness Pépin, a typical matchmaker. But Robert, who does not know the young lady, shies away from her.
