La pelicula está protagonizada por tres chicas de la alta sociedad Mexicana, a las que lo único que le preocupa es irse de fiesta y vivir la vida, ya que tienen todas sus necesidades cubiertas gracias al dinero de sus padres. En la película vemos las desigualdades tan brutales que existen en la sociedad de México, en donde mientras unas familias no tienen nada, otras lo tienen todo y pueden permitirse gastar miles de dólares en fiesta. Esto es lo que ocurre con las chicas, que creen que son intocables y que nada les puede ocurrir dado que sus padres son ricos. Por desgracia para ellas, pronto se darán cuenta de que ni siquiera todo el dinero que tienen sus padres las pueden salvar de ciertos problemas, que por cierto, se buscan ellas solas con su actitud y su forma de ser. La película está muy bien, y muestra cómo la sociedad mexicana está dividida, y los ricos viven una vida irreal.

En el año 1949 los habitantes de la localidad de San Pedro de los Saguaros decapitan de un machetazo a su alcalde cuando trataba de huir del pueblo con el dinero de las arcas municipales. El licenciado López, secretario del gobernador, decide nombrar a Juan Vargas, encargado de un basurero y antiguo militante del P.R.I., como nuevo alcalde hasta las próximas elecciones en las que él es firme aspirante a la gubernatura del estado.
