Women and art rarely get serious attention in our culture, and older women in art are virtually ignored. In TRIPTYCH: 3 Women Making Art, we see three artists who debunk the myth of the older woman as a used up and useless part of society. In fact, these women have remained vibrant and creative well into their sixties and seventies.

India, siglo XVI. La víspera de la boda de la princesa Tara con el gran Rey Raj Singh, Maya, una sirvienta que ha sufrido largamente por culpa de la impulsiva Tara, y que ha sido criada junto a ella, descubre la forma de realizar su venganza. In Culture Wars the civil war for cultural values being fought by right-wing conservatives and gay activists is chillingly depicted: after activists convince authorities to acknowledge the 1990 murder of Julio Rivera in Queens as a hate crime, the murderers are convicted;Jesse Helms uses the public television broadcast of Marlon Rigg’s Tongues Untied to attack the National Endowment for the Arts; and local activists successfully campaign against Oregon’s Religious-Right-sponsored Ballot Measure 9, the first of many initiatives nationwide seeking to curtail civil rights.
