Canton of Neuchâtel, 1917 to 1933. A young watchmaker falls head over heels with a mysterious young woman. Jean and Anna get married, love each other madly and go through all life experiences together, supported by their happiness and friends at their side. Jean wants to invent a new waterproof watch, and the future looks promising. But Anna suddenly seems to suffer from a strange sickness which gets worse each day. Will Jean's love for her be enough to save her?

La historia gira en torno al personaje de Alain, un hombre que sale de la cárcel tras una condena de 18 meses por haber intentado pasar 50 kg de cannabis en su camión. Alain no es un sinvergüenza; sólo un hombre cansado. La prisión le salvó de encontrarse en un callejón sin salida e hizo que la gente se olvidase de él. Sin embargo, una vez en libertad, se ve obligado a irse a vivir con su madre, Yvette, una mujer modesta y desde hace tiempo incapaz de manifestarle su cariño.
