Adaptación de la célebre novela de aventuras de Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894), que fue publicada en 1883. Jim Hawkins es un muchacho que trabaja en la posada de sus padres. Un día aparece por allí Bill Brown, un viejo marinero que huye de sus antiguos camaradas. Tiene una cicatriz en el rostro y un viejo cofre que contiene el plano de un tesoro. Al morir, se lo entrega a Jim.
