​From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Freidoune Sahebjam was a French-Iranian journalist, war correspondent, and novelist who resided in Neuilly-sur-Seine in France. He gained international recognition for his novel La Femme Lapidée, in 1990, which was translated 4 years later as The Stoning of Soraya M.: A True Story. The book became the basis for screenplay of the 2008 film The Stoning of Soraya M., in which American actor James Caviezel portrays Sahebjam. Sahebjam was a well appreciated journalist on French LCI channel and in French newspapers such as Le Monde and Le Telegramme. Sahebjam was the first journalist to report on the crimes of the Islamic Republic of Iran against the Bahá'í Faith community in Iran, and the illegal use of children in the Iranian Army during the eight year Iran-Iraq War. According to Darius Kadivar, Reports for which he had received death threats by Islamists. Sahebjam's latest article was about the Iraq war for the French daily Le Telegraph, where he had recently visited. En 1986, el imán Jomeini está a punto de asumir el poder en Irán. Mientras tanto, el periodista francés Freidoune Sahebjam (Jim Caviezel), gracias a una avería de su automóvil, llega a una aldea, donde la joven Zahra (Shohreh Aghdashloo) le revela algo que sus vecinos tratan de ocultar al mundo: la verdadera historia de una mujer llamada Soraya M (Mozhan Marnò), una dulce y alegre joven, que es víctima de una terrible conspiración capitaneada por su marido, que la acusa de adulterio. Según el severo código de leyes islámico (la Sharia), el adulterio es un crimen que debe ser castigado con la lapidación. Moviéndose a través de un campo minado de intrigas, mentiras y engaños, Soraya, con la ayuda de Zahra, tratará en vano de demostrar su inocencia. Entonces Zahra, corriendo un gran riesgo, utilizará la única arma que le queda: su voz valiente y apasionada para revelar al mundo la historia de Soraya
