The Year of the Hare

Young advertising executive Vatanen suddenly quits his job and his whole life in Helsinki, and decides to spend a while in the Finnish wilderness. A wounded hare hit by a car becomes his travel companion. In December 1917, the Finnish delegation, composed of Chairman of the Senate Finance Department P.E. Svinhufvud (Vilho Siivola), Senator Carl Enckell (Yrjö Tähtelä) and State Secretary Gustaf Idman (Yrjö Paulo) arrive in St. Petersburg to meet V.I. Lenin (Kirill Lavrov) to gain recognition for the country's independence.

Our Common Wife (1956) is a comedy directed by Valentin Vaala, based on the play by Arijoutsi. The film is set in post-war Helsinki, where the last released prisoners of war arrive. They are accompanied by Captain Erkki Lahtinen (Kosti Klemelä), who returns to his home and back to his wife Jenni (Marjatta Kallio). However, during his four-year imprisonment, Erkki has been pronounced dead and Jenni has remarried to office manager Nevamaa (Eero Eloranta).
