R2 está atravesando una mala racha: sus últimos fracasos le han valido la bronca del inspector jefe. Se consuela visitando el bar de Didi para animarse escuchando música, sobre todo blues. Además, su jefe está celoso desde que ha descubierto que recibe cartas del Palacio de La Zarzuela. Ayudado por su inseparable y fiel Inspector Cárdenas, R2 trata de resolver todo los casos que se le presentan, recurriendo a métodos más bien heterodoxos, que incluyen el uso de disfraces. Un día, decide resolver un caso muy interesante: el chantaje de que es objeto un rico hombre de negocios a quien amenazan con secuestrar a su joven esposa.
