A family saga spanning three decades based on the mythology of the most famous race horse Denmark has ever seen. A horse which did the impossible and put Denmark on the world map through its many great victories. The film is first and foremost about the family who owned Tarok and believed in its greatness - and who, against all odds, gave Denmark hope and courage to dream.

The film is based on Christian Kampmann's novels: "Certain Considerations", "Solid Relationships", "Clean Lines" and "Other Ways" (1973-75). The Gregersen family is a picture of inner and outer Denmark from the mid 50's to the 70's. The story begins in 1954 in the well-behaved, but not just successful, Gregersen family from the best part of the whiskey belt on the right side of Strandvejen.

A young Danish guy, Nils, is visiting Morocco, where he meets the 16-year-old Berber girl Leïla. It marks the beginning of a great, all-encompassing passion. Leïla must defy her family to be with Nils, and their love has big consequences.

Christiania has been a source of controversy since its creation in a squatted military area in 1971. Its cannabis trade was tolerated by authorities until 2004. Since then, relations between Christiania and Danish authorities have been strained.

Kim es un quinceañero que vive con su madre. Su relación con ella no es muy buena por lo que trata por todos los medios de estar lo menos posible en casa. Después de ir a la escuela se pasa gran parte del día con su amigo Ole, con el que va a la ciudad y se divierte. Un día, cuando va al banco por encargo de su madre, este es asaltado por unos ladrones que le secuestran a él y a una chica llamada Marianne. Ambos permanecerán encerrados en una cabaña en el campo, pero lograrán escaparse y vivir durante unos días la vida a su manera, fuera de la sociedad y de los convencionalismos.
