Narra la historia de Ebenezer Scrooge, un viejo avaro, tacaño, egoísta y despiadado: que es visitado en la víspera de Navidad por tres espíritus: El Espíritu de la Navidad Pasada, El Espíritu de la Navidad Presente y el Espíritu de la Navidad Futura; para hacerle recapacitar de su cruel y egoísta manera de ser. Esta versión fue realizada como un especial para la cadena de televisión ABC, la cual fue galardonada com el Óscar a mejor Cortometraje de Animación en 1972.
