The real fate of Jiří Arvéd Smíchovský, a prominent hermeticist, occultist, believer in black magic and an exceptionally well-educated person with a brilliant memory. This avid book lover had doctorates in law, theology and philosophy and was fluent in five languages. He was interested in occult teachings, practiced magical ceremonies, was in contact with the Freemasons, but at the same time he was a member of the National Fascist Community while being homosexual. During the war he cooperated with the Nazis, after the war with the communist StB.

Urban, un huérfano, sirve como aprendiz a un codicioso maestro relojero. Cuando Urban crece, se enamora de Laura, la hija del relojero, y quiere casarse con ella. Antes de que esto suceda, el maestro envía a su aprendiz al mundo con la tarea de buscar un reloj mítico que pueda advertir de la muerte. As they rehearse for their next concert, they will get into a circle of eccentric situations and misunderstandings.

Thirtysomethings Linda, Radim, Tonda, Otakar, Dagmara and Silvie have been friends since they met as teenagers. All of them arrived in the big city, Prague, from their small home town. The euphoric dreams each had for themselves have not materialized and they are all starting to feel trapped in different ways. They all seem to know one thing: what they don't want in life. At a party back in their home town they reminisce over one of their early dreams: to buy a farm, live together and, most importantly, have fun with their lives. In the weeks that follow, each of them is faced with a crisis that brings this old dream into sharper, more sober focus. Can they make it a working reality? Do they really want to?

Matys is an outsider who moved from Ukraine to Czechia with his sister in search of a better life. It turns out the situation there is not ideal either. A glimpse of hope comes when Matys manages to get a job in a cottage located in the heart of a splendid forest.
