Guillaume is getting ready to meet his wife in the maternity ward where she has just given birth. But an unexpected phone call plunges him back into bitter childhood memories: his father, whom he has not seen for years, wants nothing more than to see his daughter-in-law and the newborn child.

Elsa, a woman with a long history of depression in the midst of a divorce from her husband of 12 years develops an obsession with a seven year old girl she sees at a birthday party when she comes to pick up her son Thomas. Determined to find out more about the girl, Elsa uses Thomas as a way into the girl's family by aiding to develop a friendship between Thomas and the girl's brother Jeremy so that in turn Elsa can then befriend the girl's mother Claire. She uses Thomas more and more in her pursuit of this obsession telling her employer and fellow employees that Thomas is seriously ill so that she can run off watch the girl (Lola) wherever she goes. Elsa even tells her parents lies that she is going out with a friend so they will baby-sit so Elsa can even go as far as hiding in the bushes outside of Lola's house and watching her at night.

Two elderly ladies, Marie and Aminthe, both single and without children, live together in the house of their grandfather. Aminthe lives in the memory of Fabien, her husband to-be, who died in Indo-China more than fifty years ago. Marie, the elder one, likes to remind the happy time of their childhood - before they lost their parents prematurely. As kids, each have their own character flaws but seem to have a pure and simple childhood. Now, they live their pensions - small -, vegetables of the kitchen garden that Marie sells at the market and of the piano courses which Aminthe gives... Not enough to maintain their old residence, badly heated and of which the roof is to be remade... But when Aminthe affirms that it is necessary to sell and buy an apartment, Marie refuses categorically. Soon we learn what secrets these girls have kept all their lives.

They were not meant to meet... He (Pierre): a workaholic company manager born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He is a widower who jealously guards the domestic equilibrium he has rebuilt with his three very possessive daughters. She (Florence): a divorcée of modest means who has just lost her job and has three children of her own to feed. Exuberant and candid, she is cheerful by nature. No, they were definitely not cut out to meet. But, this summer on a beach in Southern France, the impossible happens...

During the Occupation, a kid is taken in by his old grandfather, wrongly considered a collaborator.

Alice has lost her father and one leg in a car accident. She lives with her mother (Jeanne) and grandfather in a farm. Summer holidays start and she can't go to the sea with other children of the village. Then she meets Vincent, a younger boy who stayed in the village as well, and Alain, the mayor's son who's back in town to train his athleticism female club. Alice would like to run with her prosthesis but Jeanne doesn't want her to run nor to approach Alain.
