In a career that has spanned 20 years (and counting), Paradise Lost have sold a staggering two million albums worldwide. Their constant reinvention and brazen attitude to musical experimentation has always allowed them to maintain a constant relevance despite the myriad fads and short-lived scenes that have emerged over the last two decades. Indeed few bands that prove so very influential in their infancy maintain the quality of output that Paradise Lost have. They formed the basis of an entirely new genre, gothic metal. A grisly horror story about a mad scientist is mixed with documentary about the German band "Kreator".

Documentary focusing on the thrash metal band Kreator but also exploring the economic and social situation of Essen at the time.

The director Bernd Schadewald shows the brutal everyday life of the low class generation in the 80s, where two youth gangs fight in a war. The "Sharks" and "Council" defend their territories with their lives. Violence, hatred and brutality are commonplace soundtracked by thrash metal music. As the conflict grows, it comes to the final battle: a man-versus-man duel for Richy (Ralf Richter), the leader of the "Sharks".
