Originalmente cuatro OVAs distribuidas en Japón, esta película es fruto de una fusión producida por Fox Kids de las películas originales, que duraban 40 minutos. Se utilizo una voz en off para unir las historias, y se eliminaron numerosas escenas para acortar la duración de las historias. La primera historia se centra en Tai y Kari Kamiya. Muestra su primer encuentro con un Digimon y lo que pasó con los niños elegidos. La segunda historia transcurre tras los sucesos de la serie original.
