In a series of small vignettes, it also gives a picture of her family, good and bad, and her parents' efforts to support their kids while dealing with their own fears.

Freddie Clegg, un empleado del Banco de Londres, es un hombre introvertido y triste que se dedica a coleccionar mariposas. Su vida cambia bruscamente cuando le toca la lotería, pues entonces decide secuestrar a Miranda Grey, una joven estudiante de arte por la que se siente atraído desde hace tiempo.
