Mitsuo Kondô

April 1954. 12 year old schoolgirl Sadako thinks her main problem is being unable to pass the baton in relay races. But just as her team starts winning, she starts getting tired more easily. She is sent back to the American Base Victory Hospital, where the diagnosis is lymphatic leukemia. And she has no more than a year left to live. Her parents agree with the doctor that Sadako should not be told, but will she find out anyway ?

Basada en un hecho real. Hachiko es un perro de raza akita que es adquirido por el profesor Ueno, docente en la Facultad de Ingeniería Agrónoma de la Universidad de Tokio. Todas las mañanas, Hachiko acompaña a su amo hasta la estación de Shibuya, donde éste coge el tren para ir a su trabajo. Por las tardes, Hachiko regresa a Shibuya y espera a su amo a la puerta de la estación. Un día el profesor Ueno sufre un ataque cardíaco en el aula y fallece en el acto, y Hachiko acude día tras día a la estación para esperar a un amo que ya nunca más volverá.

Upon learning of this, Keiko angrily declares that nursing is what she lives for and she will keep on working. Realising that that is one battle he will never win, Yasuo sends a letter to a newspaper -- “Nurses’ husbands, aren’t you having a hard time? Get together nurses’ husbands. Contact me.” There is a tremendous response. This leads to the formation of many unions of nurses’ husbands throughout the country.
