Durante la Dictadura militar, María vive en Buenos Aires con su madre en una gran casa en decadencia. Han alquilado algunas habitaciones, y en una de ellas vive Félix, un joven tímido, enamorado de María, que, al parecer, trabaja de vigilante en un garaje. María enseña a leer ya escribir en un barrio pobre y, además, pertenece a una organización que lucha contra la dictadura militar. Una mañana, unos soldados de paisano la detienen y la llevan al Garage Olimpo, uno de los lugares donde se tortura a los activistas ante la indiferencia o ignorancia general. El encargado del centro elige a uno de sus mejores hombres para hacer el interrogatorio.
