Aya Kitō (木藤 亜也, Kitō Aya, July 19, 1962 – May 23, 1988) was a Japanese diarist. She wrote about her personal experiences living with spinocerebellar ataxia which was later published in the book 1 Litre no Namida. A film and TV drama adaptations were later made based on her experiences.

Aya Kito es una estudiante de 15 años próxima a empezar la secundaria. Sin embargo, últimamente le han estado sucediendo cosas extrañas: se cae a menudo y camina de manera extraña. Un día, tras una caída, su madre, Shioka, la lleva al médico... Basada en la novela homónima, que a su vez es una colección de las entradas del diario de una chica relatando su lucha contra una enfermedad rara.
