Es la noche de fin de año de los Ángeles y un grupo de jóvenes celebra una fiesta en la azotea de un rascacielos. Avanzada la noche, un mensaje de texto en el móvil les invita a una fiesta VIP en la planta 27. Mientras bajan se encuentran con un pequeño grupo de gente que también ha recibido el mensaje. Al llegar se encuentran con una extraña versión de una fiesta de cumpleaños infantil, con tarjetas con sus nombres en la mesa, pero el anfitrión no aparece. Piensan que han sido víctimas de una broma y deciden irse, pero el ascensor no funciona, las salidas están bloqueadas y no hay nadie a quién pedir ayuda. The film does not tell a story, but is made up of various scenes put together as a collage with scenes set in different locations. The futility of human activity and the search for love make up the film's central theme set against the strains of a Silician funeral march. Filmed on location in Wuppertal, Germany, between October 1987 and April 1989.
