Joaquín es un estudiante de cine frustrado por sus inseguridades como artista. En el proceso de escribir su opera prima, se revelan ante Joaquín una serie de personajes excéntricos del mundo del cine independiente, poniendo en desafío sus principios, sus relaciones y su propia identidad. "Auténtico" se trata del proyecto de egreso de Agustín Lorenzo, devenido en un largometraje inspirado en las enseñanzas y obra del guionista Charles Kaufman. El metraje se coloca a sí mismo como un espejo a la realidad de muchos artistas independientes emergentes, quienes sufren las consecuencias políticas, sociales y artísticas del camino creativo.
