Jorge Alís, un artista argentino, cuenta como su búsqueda de éxito en la vida lo lleva a estar colgado al borde del abismo. Su familia y la constante crisis argentina lo hacen tomar la decisión de emigrar a Chile. Pese a la hostilidad que encuentra, gracias a su desfachatez, logra establecerse, conquistar al amor de su vida y armar una familia. Pero todo se complica. Las deudas, la burocracia y la misma desfachatez que antes lo había ayudado, hacen que lo que construyó se vaya a pique.
