Haikal, who produces western drama, travels to Malaysia's east coast in search for his identity as a Malay. There, his destiny arranges a meeting with a girl who still upholds the tradition of Malay. Although she is engaged to someone else, Haikal finds himself strongly attracted to her.

This story is about the efforts of District Officer Azam Wasli to develop the remote areas of Laka in Sarawak, to unite the various fighting factions and to elimante undesirable element. It is also about his love for a journalist called Mei Ling. Azam wasli becomes the victim of a political conspiracy and Mei Ling is held for ransom. The kidnapping of Mei Ling leads to the reunion of two long lost brothers.

It is the second fictional film produced by Rahim Razali (after Abang, 1981), Abang (The Hunter) started the theme of vengeful hatred that completes a trilogy; the other two films are Matinya Seorang Patriot (1984) and Puteri (1987). It revolves around a man, Khamis, who tries to take revenge on his daughter who has been raped and brutally murdered. With the help of her two best friends, Sita and May, Khamis tried to track down the criminals involved. Featuring the best acting of Ahmad Yatim on the silver screen.
