Curly es una pequeña huérfana a la que Bill Dancer ha criado e intentado educar. Pese a lo mucho que la quiere, Bill espera encontrar para ella un buen hogar, con padres adoptivos de los que recibirá el cuidado y la educación que él es incapaz de proporcionarle. Sin embago, para Curly, Bill es toda la familia que ha conocido desde pequeña, y piensa que no necesita a nadie más.
