Nesto and Verga are very loving and happy couple. Even though they haven’t been blessed with a child, they never failed to cherish each other every day. They depend to each other for every challenges life brings and always see it through. Until one day, Nesto died in a car accident. Verga was crushed. She is struggling to bear the sorrow of his partner’s death. Her smiles faded, and her body started to weaken. Nesto’s death was untimely. Worried about what would happen to his wife, he pleaded to San Pedro to give him time to say goodbye to her. San Pedro knew that Nesto is good man so he gave him limited time to sort things out and in order to make sure he’ll return, he sent his rooster to guard and guide him in the living world. Nesto went to their house and started to catch Verga’s attention.

Mando, a Bikolano devotee of Ina, Virgin of Peñafrancia, Patroness of Bikolandia, injures himself in the middle of the forest at the foot of the Mayon Volcano. He will be nursed back to health by a mysterious woman, Salome. They will eventually fall in love with each other. But when Mando invites her to come with him to the plains, Salome refuses, saying a curse prohibits her from leaving the forest. Salome holds a secret that will devastate Mando’s love for her. Meanwhile, Mando relies on his devotion to the Virgin of Peñafrancia to lift the curse, making him realize just how inextricably linked are the virtues of love and faith.
"El tercer sendero" is a non-narrative film that explores the borders between life and spectacle, between reason and non-reason, between life and death, between reality and reflection, between job and leisure, between daily and mythical. Thorugh different characters and landscapes there is the progress. The fallout is showed through a former mining city in ruins, between the monsters of racionality and poetry.
