Phoebe (Jean Arthur) transforma ella sola un triste almacén en lo que ahora se conoce como Tucson, en Arizona, el orgullo del Oeste americano. Allí construye su rancho, que pronto será el más grande del territorio. Recién llegado de la ciudad, Peter Muncie (William Holden) comienza a trabajar en la propiedad de Phoebe entablándose entre ellos una relación que culmina con planes de boda. Pero el éxito del negocio de Phoebe no tarda en generar envidias y se cruza en su camino Jefferson Carteret (Warren William), un vecino que planea estafar a Phoebe y asesinar a Peter el día de su boda.
The two partners of a ladies' garter business are constantly feuding with each other. When they ask their lawyer to dissolve their partnership, he proposes that instead the two of them play a single poker hand: the loser to become the winner's personal manservant for a year.
Captain Stanton, who because of a misunderstanding over a woman with Major Davolo, has been cited for a court martial. As a scout, he is sent to escort a wagon train which is under military escort. It turns out that this escort is his own former regiment. When he meet Davolo, there is another fight and between Stanton and Davolo in which Davolo is killed.
Tammany Burke, young owner of a giant roller coaster, is fighting heavy odds against a syndicate led by financial baron Hughey Cooper. Assisted by his sweetheart, Joan, and her father, Jingles Wellman, formerly a clown, Burke prepares for a sabotage of his machine by syndicate hirelings. In the midst of a great battle the riot squad arrives to arrest the troublemakers, and Burke and his sweetheart are left in happy possession of their roller coaster.
A wealthy financier is tricked by a pair of spies into giving millions to foreign powers. His daughter is suspicious and hires a Detective, who is able to foil the foreign agent's plans. Meanwhile, the daughter has fallen in love with a fellow from the enemy camp, but all ends well as his true identity is revealed as a member of the U.S. secret service.
