Raja is an Indian film actor who has acted in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu language films. The actor made his debut in the 1981 Tamil film, Paakku Vethalai, before going on to become a leading actor in the Tamil film industry through the 1980s.

In anger, Krishnasamy entered Samiyappan's house and fought against his henchmen but an honest police officer (Nagesh) arrested him before he committed murder. The police officer gave him a mission : stopping Samiyappan's illegal activities.

Vijaya Ragunadhan (Vijayakanth), a kind-hearted landlord and the village grams, lives with his younger brother Balu (Raja) and his mother (Janaki). He conflicts with his uncle (R. Sundarrajan), since he sent his cousin Jayaraman (Napoleon) to jail for killing a poor farmer. Vijaya Ragunadhan and his niece Kalyani (Kasthuri) are in love since their childhood. Vijaya Ragunadhan's uncle encourages Sitharaman, Vijaya Ragunadhan's brother-in-law, to stand for their village association's election. Sitharaman and Vijaya Ragunadhan clash during the election, Sitharaman decides to arrange the marriage between his daughter Kalyani and 'Bambaram' Pandu (Vivek). At the wedding, Vijaya Ragunadhan beats Sitharaman's henchmen and gets married with Kalyani. Balu and Kaveri, Kalyani's half-sister, fall in love with each other. Soon, Balu clashes with Vijaya Ragunadhan.
Priya , a rich girl, is in love with Sundar, a poor youth. Priya tries to elope with him but she fails and her father and her mother lock her in her bedroom. From there, Priya witnesses the murder of Shanthi by her husband Sabapathy in the opposite building. She takes photos of this murder and Sabapathy notices this act. Gopi, Shanthi's brother, only knows that his brother-in-law tortured his sister for a long time. He is the only one who suspects Sabapathy whereas their relatives considers him as a perfect gentleman. Gopi files a complaint secretly against Sabapathy. However, Sarath, an honest police officer, gives up the case due to the lack of evidence. What transpires later forms the crux of the story.

The collector is killed by Sathyamoorthi and capital punishment is given to him by the court. How the lives of such a leader and his family changes due to circumstances, forms the crux of the story.
