Tony has been dead for only about two or three years. Maybe seven. It's hard to follow the flow of time without a heartbeat. The days pile up and are meaningless when you are dead, but that isn't Tony's biggest beef with the afterlife. The city is the same as when Tony was alive but everyone is a stranger. The denizens pass their time maintaining an arbitrary set of rules passed down from a time they cannot remember. The dead live in an endless autumn where change is not only rare but considered gauche. Can a soul find love and meaning in a joint like this?

Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based alternative rockers Violent Femmes make the trip from American to Great Britain in order to perform two spitfire sets at the legendary Hacienda in 1982-1983, and thankfully for fans cameras were rolling to capture both shows in their entirety. Never before released on any format, these two landmark concerts capture the iconic 1980's cult band in their absolute prime while offering a glimpse into the legendary nightclub that spurned on the Manchester music scene.

Permanent Record: Live & Otherwise is a DVD released by the Violent Femmes on July 12, 2005. The first thirteen tracks were filmed during a live concert at The Boat House in Norfolk, Virginia on July 21, 1991. Tracks 14 through 20 are music videos. The last track is footage of an impromptu performance of "Kiss Off", in front of the Downer Theater in the band's hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
