Segunda Guerra Mundial (1939-1945). Dakota (Terry), un soldado que está de permiso en Nueva York, visita la famosa Stage Door Canteen (título original del film), un local de Broadway donde célebres artistas entretenían a los soldados que volvían del frente. Dakota y sus amigos, Tex (Sunset Carson) y California (Lon McAllister), caen rendidos ante los encantos de Eileen (Cheryl Walker), Jean (Marjorie Riordan) y Ella Sue (Margaret Early). Artistas del calibre de Katharine Hepburn, Merle Oberon, George Raft, Johnny Weismuller, Ralph Bellamy o Harpo Marx llenan el local, en el que actúan las bandas de Xavier Cugat, Count Basie y Benny Goodman.

El barco en el que viaja Gulliver naufraga y el mar le arrastra a la costa del país de Lilliput, un lugar habitado por unos hombrecillos diminutos. Al despertar, Gulliver descubre que ha caído prisionero de estos entrañables seres. Sin embargo, cuando la princesa de Lilliput y el príncipe de un reino vecino están a punto de casarse, se desata una absurda guerra entre ambos pueblos y Gulliver deberá utilizar su ingenio para salvar la ceremonia.

A former college football hero and his college sweetheart get married. Marital turmoil ensues as her criminal law practice soars while he cannot get his career as an architect off the ground. They separate, and the man begins making extra money by singing in a nightclub. When he is unjustly accused of murder, it is up to his estranged wife to defend him in court.

The story deals with the college rivalry of a piccolo player and an All-American halfback on the football team who both love the same co-ed. After graduation they carry their their feud and collegiate ideas over into the department store business.

It's love at first sight for singer John Craddock and Jane Blodgett who meet while John is seeking a radio job with the "Blodgett Dog Biscuit Hour," and John learns that the sponsor is Jane's father, Warren Blodgett, an avid souvenir and antiques collector. John gets himself in bad with Blodgett when he accidentally ruins a deal in which Blodgett was attempting to acquire a bedpost for his collection. To break up the romance, Blodgett and his wife take Jane to Switzerland, where Blodgett has his heart set on obtaining a jealously-guarded cowbell.

Recreation of the popular radio show "The Maxwell House Show Boat" offers us a variety show of singers, including a syrupy duet version of "Please" and two white actors in blackface. They are billed as "Molasses and January", and do a routine about a horse race. It won't play well to a modern audience, alas.

A resort owner tries to marry his daughter to a millionaire, but his scheme doesn't turn out exactly as planned.
