Historia

Ramón Pereda Saro (Santander, 30 de agosto de 1897-Ciudad de México, 20 de junio de 1986) fue un actor, productor, guionista y director español-mexicano. Estuvo casado con las actrices María Antonieta Pons y Adriana Lamar. Debutó en 1930 como actor de revista en la película Paramount on Parade.

Un marinero y su novia, una muchacha humilde, deciden casarse. El patrón de ella la desea y manda dar una paliza a su prometido. Cuando él recobra el sentido es acusado de asesinato y tiene que huir. Al llegar a un puerto es golpeado nuevamente y pierde la memoria. Mientras tanto, la joven se convierte en bailarina y pronto llega a ser famosa. Tiempo después el marinero sale de su amnesia, busca a su novia y todo se arregla entre ellos.

The film Contrabando was shot in locations on the border with the United States, such as Tijuana, Ensenada and Playas de Rosarito. It was shot in Spanish and in English under the title Contraband. The role of Lolita was cast for the English version with Dorothy Sebastian. Contrabando's plot was inspired by an actual 1929 rebellion led by José Gonzalo Escobar.
