Vicenzo (Pierfrancesco Favino), adorado esposo de María (Maria Grazia Cucinotta), deja su hogar en una isla de Italia para tratar de triunfar como escultor en Nueva York. Pasa el tiempo y él pierde contacto con María y sus hijos, por lo que ella decide ir a buscarle.
