Naicho Petrov was born on October 17, 1920 in the village Djinchovtsi, Bulgaria . He did not complete secondary education, but visited theater courses in Varna in 1946 and Sofia in 1949. In 1939, he debuted as an actor on the stage of the Plovdiv Municipal Theatre , in which he played in 1939 - 1941, 1945 - 1954 and 1957 - 1960. He has worked consistently in Varna Drama Theater , "Boyana" Film Studios, National Theatre "Ivan Vazov" , Youth Theatre , Kardzhali Drama Theater . Naicho Petrov has many roles in the theater, the most significant are: Margalaka in "Gerac Family" by Elin Pelin; Maslarski in "Millionaire" by Yordan Yovkov; Zhelyu in "Vampire" by Anton Strashimirov; Waller in "Tartuffe" by Moliere; Frank in "The profession of Mrs. Warren" by George Bernard Shaw; Malvolio in "Twelfth Night" by William Shakespeare. He debuted in cinema in 1957 in the film "Earth". He has taken participation in more than 100 movies. His characters - Captain Stanev in "On the Small Island"; an ordinary policeman; a district chief, an agent, a general, a Gypsy, a black market swindler, a firefighter, a barber, a waiter, a mayor and Salvador Allende - all carry a bit of his insight on the wealth of human emotions. He died on January 20, 2016 in Sofia.

The Mayor
The beginning of the 20th century. The young Nona comes back to her father's farm from Switzerland. She meets colonel Galchev. The officer expresses his love for her. The teacher Yosif who is in love with Nona organizes a revolt of the villagers with no property. Armed villagers rob the farm. Galchev and his soldiers arrive. During the shooting, the colonel is killed. Nona accuses Yosif of Galchev's death. The carriage of Nona's fiancé, who travels from Switzerland to the village, passes by the coffin with Galchev's body. A second after the fiancé enters her house Nona kills herself.

Professor Dimov is a diplomat who has been recruited as a spy by a foreign intelligence service. The suspicions fall on Dr. Belcheva. Major Kalinov is entrusted with the investigation of the case. He learns that she is Dimov's mistress. Paris, France. Dimov and Belcheva go out leaving a bag with secret documents in Belcheva's hotel room. Kalinov manages to retrieve the documents. After this incident Belcheva dies in hospital from poisoning. On board the plane Kalinov exposes the professor as a spy. Bulgarian counterintelligence officers arrest him.

As the water level rises in the river, people band together to try and save the boy before he drowns. He is comforted by his mother (G. Vachtov) and an army general (P. Slobokov), and the latter calls out the troops to save the lad from liquidation. This feature was the official Bulgarian entry at the 1965 Cannes Film Festival and is devoid of the usual 1960s propaganda associated with countries from the Eastern block of Europe.

Pope Innocent III recognizes him as Emperor (Tsar), but a little later the fourth Crusade crosses the country under Emperor Baldwin. A new conflict is coming. Tsar Kaloyan wages the decisive battle at Adrianople and wins.

Golden Tooth sets out to eliminate his accomplices. With a file containing valuable documents, the traitors prepare their escape abroad. The spies are caught at the border. Golden Tooth kills the last of the traitors and dies driving his lorry into a precipice.

The students Yoshkata and Petar share rooms and wartime privations in a poor man's street. Over a glass of vine, Yoshkata often talks about the stage life of genuine beauty. The student is unaware of the passion with which Vaska, the barmaid at the local pub, burns for him. Petar is a member of an antifascist combat unit. The pupil Katya loves him. Petar carries out a sabotage action and comes home wounded. Yoshkata manages to deceive the Germans who rush into their flat that they have been drinking and playing cards throughout the evening. He saves his friend. However, the secret agent notices the doctor's visits. When the police arrive to arrest Petar, Yoshkata tries to resist them and the agent shoots him dead. Petar goes underground. On the day of the liberation, all the residents of the poor man's street celebrate, and Katya and Petar happily reunited. Vaska is there, too, a baby in her arms, the fruit of her love with Yoshkata...
