John Gilkey

Historia

John Gilkey is an award winning circus performer, actor, director and teacher. He has performed internationally for more than thirty-five years in circus, variety, comedy clubs, theater and television. John’s original and quirky routines are known for being an influential part of the contemporary circus movement that began in the 1980’s. In 2002 John was invited to Pixar Studios to consult on the physical comedy routines that were eventually included in the Oscar winning film Ratatouille. John continues to create challenging and experimental theater in California, including We Are Nudes which earned a Best of the Fringe award in the 2009 San Francisco Fringe Festival and Wet The Hippo which was nominated for Best Comedy in the 2013 Hollywood Fringe Festival.

Bringing together dance, acrobatics, live video, filmed sequences and animation, the show takes spectators on a fantastic voyage through the history of cinema and its genres, taking them into the heart of the movie-making process. From illustration to animation, black and white to colour, silent films to talkies, fixed shots to swooping camera movements, spectators witness the poetic construction/deconstruction of this art as an object and as a way of transcending reality.

Remy es una simpática rata que sueña con convertirse en un gran chef francés a pesar de la oposición de su familia y del problema evidente que supone ser una rata en una profesión que detesta a los roedores. El destino lleva entonces a Remy a las alcantarillas de París, pero su situación no podría ser mejor, ya que se encuentra justo debajo de un restaurante que se ha hecho famoso gracias a Auguste Gusteau, una estrella de la cuisine. A pesar del peligro que representa ser un visitante poco común (y desde luego nada deseado) en los fogones de un exquisito restaurante francés, la pasión de Remy por la cocina pone patas arriba el mundo culinario parisino en una trepidante y emocionante aventura.
