Strange things happen in a revue theatre. The dancer Maria seems to be hunted by an invisible admirer. When the body of a probable FBI agent is found in a trunk the police asks FBI man Joe Como for help. Como gets interested in the revue theatre and an ominous transport firm soon. When he is receiving mysterious threatening letters he is sure that Dr. Mabuse has risen again. But what is going on at "Enterprise X" so that both the goverment and the mad genius in crime are interested in it?

Los padres del estudiante de secundaria de 17 años Klaus Teichmann se preocupan por su hijo: cada vez más a menudo, el hijo se relaciona con homosexuales. El Sr. Teichmann denuncia al principal responsable, el anticuario Dr. Boris Winkler. El Dr. Winkler es un vanguardista local que da a conocer entre la juventud la música electrónica y el arte moderno. Debido a que no existen pruebas y que no se le puede demostrar comportamientos deshonestos, la denuncia es archivada. La Sra. Teichmann intenta volver a su hijo a la buena senda con una chacha bonita, Gerda. Gerda consigue efectivamente seducir a Klaus. Un conocido que ha observado la escena, lo cuenta todo al Dr. Winkler. Ahora, Winkler denuncia a la madre por alcahuetería y el juez, a pesar de comprender las razones de la madre, la tiene que condenar a la cárcel. Pero, al hijo, a partir de ese momento, sólo le gustan las mujeres, se aleja de la música electrónica moderna y sólo escucha Chopin.

In South Tirol, shortly after ww-ii: Paul and Barbara Holzmann and their son Charlie own a small gasoline station. At their wedding anniversary, of all days, Barbara finds proof that Paul may again have cheated on her. At first she believes his explanations, but when she finds more proof later, she leaves and seeks comfort in the arms of her former friend Nicola in Italy. The story is told from the perspective of her diary.

On a mountain lake, in the picturesque Alps in the Salzburg region, the old, rich grumble has retired to his country house and actually only wants to live in peace and seclusion. Soon the longed-for peace will be over, because in the immediate vicinity a home for little-wealthy holiday children will be opened in an empty house, which will be headed by the cheerful and optimistic teacher Miss Helm.

Long before he played the corpulent Goldfinger, German actor Gert Froebe was a scarecrow-skinny comedian. In Berliner Ballade, Froebe makes his screen debut as Otto, a feckless Everyman who tries to adjust to the postwar travails of his defeated nation. Stymied by black-market profiteers and government bureaucrats, Otto begins fantasizing about a happier life at the end of that ever-elusive rainbow. Director R. A. Stemmle doesn't have to strive for pathos: he merely places his gangly star amidst the ruins of a bombed-out Berlin, and the point is made for him. Filmed in 1948, Berliner Ballade was later released in the U.S. as The Berliner.

A romance between two temperamental singing stars. Highlights include a lengthy selection from Faust, with Gigli making a most impressive Mephistopheles. The plot takes a melodramatic turn towards the climax, with the lives of the characters mirrored in their on-stage behavior. Director Carmine Gallone was something of an expert in the field of filmed opera, as witness his Tosca, Rigoletto and Il Trovatore.
