El pequeño Nico es hijo de uno de los renos que tiran del trineo de Papá Noel. Desea con todas sus fuerzas volar y conocer a su padre. Por eso decide ir en su busca. En su aventura lo acompañan Julius, una ardilla voladora y Wilma, una descarada comadreja que los guiará hasta las montañas de Papá Noel. También se encontrarán con una manada de lobos que tienen un plan terrible: comerse a Papá Noel y sus renos y terminar así con la Navidad. Nico tendrá que demostrar su coraje para evitar que esto ocurra y poder cumplir su sueño.

This very serious drama, based on a true incident, explores the unremitting labor which put a young mother living in rural isolation into the situation of being charged with having thrown her children down a well. Her husband is an unimaginative, work-obsessed man who cannot see that her constant hard work without any support or sympathy from anyone is driving the sensitive woman to consider suicide. When the loutish fellow discovers that his wife and three children are missing, he calls the police, and a manhunt begins. The police discover the oldest boy alive, and find that the mother tried to drown herself, but has survived. The two younger children remained missing.

Young photography model Susanna and her alienated teenage brother Veli spend the summer of 1969 travelling around Finland, mostly with another girl and her boyfriend. Sporting the latest fashions and trendy hairdos, they naïvely observe and criticise the modern consumer society, advertising, fancy boats and summer cottages, country dances, barbecues, and any other phenomena that were supposed to bother angry young intellectuals in those days. The plot and the political agenda are delivered with a cheerful, tongue-in-cheek mixture of documentary observations, fake TV commercials, fake interviews, philosophical voiceovers and titles, and a jazzy soundtrack by the progressive rock group Wigwam.
