Yuku es un joven ratón que vive con su familia en el sótano de un castillo. Su abuela le transmite los valores familiares contándole cuentos populares de toda la vida. Herida en una pelea con un gato, la vieja ratona está postrada en la cama y les dice a sus hijos que tendrá que dejarlos para seguir al pequeño topo ciego en los túneles de la Tierra. En uno de los libros de cuentos de su abuela, Yuku aprende que la flor del Himalaya puede traerle la luz eterna, así que emprende un viaje con el objetivo de encontrar la flor.
