El mayor Wright (Telly Savalas) es un hombre duro y violento con una fe y lealtad a su país fuera de toda duda. Su misión actual consiste en desbaratar un complot alemán cuyo objetivo es llevar al poder a un poderoso grupo de generales nazis que actúan en nombre del III Reich. El comando lo forman doce presidiarios que sólo tienen dos posibilidades: la libertad o la muerte. Su objetivo: asaltar y destruir un convoy, que es el centro de operaciones de los conspiradores.
