Para poder contemplarla, el naturalista Gordon Buchanan viaja hasta la Laponia finlandesa donde además pasará un tiempo en compañía de la tribu de los Sami. Con ellos aprenderá a sobrevivir en esta inhóspita región: le enseñarán a pescar en el hielo y a rastrear animales.
