The film’s story centers on Musashi Miyamoto, one of the most famous swordsmen in Japanese history. He pioneered the Hyouhou Niten Ichi-ryuu style of two-sword fighting and wrote “The Book of Five Rings,” a book that has been compared to Sun Tzu’s “The Art of War” for its insight on tactics and strategy.

Mankind's problems are tempting the moon to move away from the planet Earth, but Kaguya, a superhuman spiritualist, is attempting not to let it go off too far. She comes down to Earth from her home in outer space to help solve the relationship problems of people. Her first assignment involves foiling a perfect murder and a bit of gender-bending as she tries to help Tanaka revive the life of his dream lover and get revenge on the killer, which was her ex-girlfriend. The second assignment involves pulling a sexually frustrated teenager's spirit out of a video game after the stress of being dumped forced it outside the body.

Todo comienza con un rutinario día en Nerima (para los que viven ahí persecuciones, robos de ropa íntima femenina, baldazos de agua y demás cosas es normal). Repentinamente todo cambia cuando se involucra a un pergamino que supuestamente contiene la "última técnica" escrita en él y que Akane estuvo sosteniendo cuando el Príncipe Kirin (Líder de los Siete Dioses Artistas Marciales de la Suerte), llegan a la casa de los Tendo. Kirin toma Akane como su novia en lugar de Lychee, la verdadera dueña del pergamino y se la lleva. Ranma y sus amigos tienen que viajar a China en el bote de Kuno para evitar que Akane se case con el poderoso príncipe. El viaje es largo y difícil, y una vez que todos llegan a Nekonron deben luchar para abrirse paso en la torre y despachar a cada uno de los Siete Dioses Artistas Marciales de la Suerte . Al final Ranma tiene que enfrentarse a Kirin en una batalla uno-a-uno lo cual desemboca en una lucha por Akane y el pergamino.
