El sacerdote Poveda tuvo una vida plena iluminada por la fe y el amor realizando una importante labor socioeducativa en las cuevas de Guadix con los braceros pobres que vivían en la ignorancia y la indigencia. Trasladado a Asturias y posteriormente a Jaén, pone en marcha una iniciativa pionera confiando a mujeres jóvenes su proyecto educativo y fundando la Institución Teresiana.
