Después de quedar ciega de forma permanente en un trágico accidente automovilístico, Rebecca recibe una noticia extraña: su madre, desaparecida hace mucho tiempo, falleció recientemente, dejándola en el castillo ancestral de su familia en la Albania rural. Al viajar a la finca con un grupo de amigos, Rebecca espera que sea una oportunidad para volver a conectarse con un pasado que nunca conoció y una madre que aparentemente la dejó atrás. Cuando comienzan a ocurrir eventos misteriosos y sus amigos comienzan a morir, Rebecca debe desentrañar los secretos de la historia de su familia antes de que ella también sea presa del Castle Freak.
