Tragedia inspirada en una obra de teatro de John Osborne que, a su vez, se basa en hechos reales. Segunda película de una trilogía sobre el imperio Austro-Húngaro: la primera es ’Mephisto’, y la tercera, ’Hanussen’. Mientras se produce la desmembración del imperio Austro-Húngaro, el joven Alfred Redl ingresa en el ejército y asciende de forma meteórica. Redl llega a alcanzar el grado de coronel y realiza un impecable trabajo dentro de los servicios de contraespionaje. Su homosexualidad, que trata de mantener oculta, será el detonante de su estrepitosa caída en desgracia.

Two arts students, András and Viktor who are writing their thesis on detective stories, make up a story and keep nagging the famous film-director, who just came back from Hollywood, until he undertakes the job. At night they work on the film, in which two youths kill a director returning from the US. In the morning the director is found dead - a knife in his back.

The week-days of a youth-camp, playing democracy, are depicted in this documentarist satire. Due to faulty organisation, the Budapest high-school students get only working tools, but no work to do. The camp leadership tries to cover up facts and urges them to be initiated into "community life".

Savanyú and his friend work at a plant. After the monotonous shifts they engage in the pleasures of the afternoon and the night, i.e. parties and concerts. Savanyú dates Juli, they are already engaged. The young men live as sub-tenants, the young women in workers' hostels. None of these places are suited for spending time together. They are in need of an apartment. Out of the ruinous apartment which they lay siege on, however, they are sent away by the otherwise friendly policeman. At a concert held in the Park of Youth, Juli gets to know Géza. They flirt, then go to the country with a pop-group. Savanyú and his friends follow them. A minor fight cools the atmosphere.

In 1905 Hungary, a young village woman has just undergone a marriage to the spoiled son of a man to whom her father is indebted, in order that the debt be cancelled, only to be spirited away by her true love, a young peasant, by whom she soon becomes pregnant. Together they attempt to find a way to buy up her father's debt and also pay for a divorce from her husband, against various odds.
