Buddhist monks Kampala (Golden Casmara) and Targhu (Hans Wanaghi) are traveling around seeking knowledge and expanding their martial arts skills in the lands they visit. Once they reach Malacca, they meet Datuk Saluntung (Baron Hermanto) and his wife Lasmini (Murti Sari Dewi). Upon learning that these two monks wish to meet Brama Kumbara (Fendy Pradana), Lasmini thinks she has found a way to take revenge. These two monks first meet up with Lasmini’s students in Jawadwipa. Brama then accepts a challenge by the two monks to test his martial arts skills against theirs. They battle for three days and nights, but nobody wins.

Set during the kingdom of Majapahit after the reign of King Hayam Wuruk, the Saur Sepuh films were based on the popular radio plays in the 80s. Lasmini is raped and thrown into a ravine, but is saved by Granny Lawu. She is then taught martial arts until the granny dies. Then Lasmini leaves the mountain to find her rapists and kills them one by one. One day, she has a fight with Mantili because she is close to Bentar. Then Lasmini returns to Mount Lawu to improve her martial arts. After learning new skills, she returns to challenge all the martial arts experts and is victorious. Mantili then goes to improve his skills from Brama and challenges Lasmini. Now Lasmini is defeated.

The third and final entry in this original fantasy / horror series (which was remade for Indonesian television later) finds Sembara (Fendy Pradana) and friends facing off against a gaggle of supernatural bad guys.

The kingdom is then ruled by Wikramawardhana, son-in-law of Hayamwuruk. To rival Majapahit, Bre Wirabhumi creates the Pamotan kingdom and looks for allies amongst other kingdoms. This creates confusion among the kingdoms friendly with Majapahit. Brama Kumbara (Fendy Pradana) from the Madangkara kingdom tries to settle the dispute. What happens instead is a misunderstanding that leads to the death of Brama’s envoy. Even worst, the lover of the murderer, Lasmini (Murti Sari Dewi), takes revenge by kidnapping Brama’s wife. The conflict then escalates into the Paregreg war between Majapahit and Pamotan.

Malam Satu Suro is a romantic Indonesian horror movie directed by Gautama Putra Sisworo and starring Suzanna and Fendy Pradana. The film is known for its unique story line because it does not highlight the ghost as an antagonist but as the main character / protagonist. The film was distributed by Soraya Intercine Films.
