Adapted loosely from Romeo and Juliet, Pekak is a story about a deaf drug pusher Uda whose dream is to get a cochlear implant so that he can finally hear again. When Uda meets and falls in love with Dara, an innocent school girl, he is even more determined to leave the life he's always known for a future with Dara. But will he be able to break free from the vicious ties that bind him or will he be stuck forever in the same bleak existence?

Shanghai, 1942. La ciudad está ocupada por los japoneses. La señora Mak, una mujer rica y sofisticada, recuerda cómo empezó todo en 1938. Su verdadero nombre no es Mak, sino Wong Chia Chi. Poco antes de estallar la II Guerra Mundial (1939-1945), su padre huyó a Inglaterra y la dejó en China. Era estudiante universitaria y conoció a Kuang Yu Min, que acababa de fundar una compañía de teatro para fomentar el patriotismo. Wong Chia Chi se convirtió en la primera actriz de la compañía. Seven years after Jason, Orked is now married to a much older guy, Arif. Everything seems ideal in their marriage at first glance. One fateful morning, Orked is awakened by a distressing phone call from Mak Inom with news that Pak Atan has become catatonic due to diabetic complications.After some chaos, they take Pak Atan to the hospital. There, Orked bumps into Alan, Jason’s elder brother. His father, Pa has also been hospitalized. As the film develops, we witness the friendship between Alan and Orked flourish, to Arif’s apprehension. Perhaps because for Orked, Alan is a link to her first love.
