La trama gira en torno a Jeff Tuche, quien se siente emocionado por la llegada del TGV (tren de alta velocidad) a su pueblo, Bouzolles. Sin embargo, el tren pasa de largo sin detenerse en su localidad. Desilusionado, Jeff decide tomar medidas y contactar al Presidente de la República para evitar que su pueblo quede aislado. Ante la falta de respuesta, decide postularse como candidato en las elecciones presidenciales, buscando solucionar el problema. Aprovechando circunstancias políticas inesperadas, Jeff y su familia se instalan en el Elíseo y se enfrentan a la desafiante tarea de gobernar Francia, enfrentando situaciones cómicas y sorprendentes en su intento de mejorar la situación de su pueblo y el país.
