Whispering Sands
Kakek
Berlian and her teenage daughter Daya are on the run from political violence. Constantly daydreaming that her absent father will return, young Daya chafes under the stern hand of her mother. Forced to move inland from their seaside home to a desert of constantly shifting sands, the pair settle down to their familiar antagonism. Finally, Daya sees a vaguely familiar face shuffle in from across the wasteland.
Oom Pasikom
Like the film’s title, Parody of the Capital resembles a sketch of the community. Oom Pasikom, a cab driver, is stingy because of his measly income. Conversely, his wife moves within the high social circle and is a spendthrift due to her business as jewelry broker. Through Oom Pasikom’s glasses, small stories of the city are told - the ladies’ social gathering, lonely wives, the cleaning of the city and how it affects the small businesses, a student who is writing her thesis and so on.
Rebo & Robby
Future doctor Rebo, an innocent village boy with low self-esteem, has a dream of being bitten by a snake, a dream that means that he is about to get a mate. He suspects that his mate will be Erika, the youngest child of the wealthy, Sugiharto. Roy, his good friend, his wife Rini and her sister, Salindri, arrange a plan to match Rebo and Erika. They want Rebo to be known as Robby but advise him to wait for a while. He cannot wait so he approaches Erika as Rebo, Robby’s messenger. Sugiharto finds out about the act. But Erika, who is already matched with the son of her father’s colleague, runs away. Rebo also loses hope and returns to his village although he has graduated as the best student doctor. Roy, Rini and Salindri finally hatch a plan. Everyone is persuaded to attend the graduation, including Sugiharto. Every secret is revealed leading to a happy end.

Jarir, an old teacher and also principal of a school in a small town, is a conservative educator. He is contrasted with Irfan, who is full of passion and follows a modern education approach. Their different approaches are tested on a group of delinquents. This film for children tries to show how a child’s “naughty” behaviour is a form of creativity.
Makelar Kodok
Fifi (Paramitha Rusady) runs away from home as she does not want to marry the man chosen for her by her parents. She then meets Kadir (Kadir), an honest but unlucky young man, who has come to Jakarta with his younger brother, Doyok (Doyok Sudarmadji), to try their fortune. Failing, Doyok returns alone to his village. Kadir also goes home to the village, but with Fifi. But as a city person from a rich family, she is not used to the village life. Kadir keeps working for her, such as selling frogs, which is a mistake as the frogs he sells are not edible. The inedible frog becomes a big joke. Finally, Kadir and Fifi return to the city just when Fifi is going to be engaged to Tomo (Rudy Salam), her parents’ intended. But Fifi is already in love with Kadir. Kadir leaves because he does not want to be insulted, but Fifi goes after him and runs away from home.

Rhoma tries to pull Ratna out of her dark life. Ratna’s pimp opposes the attempt. In a fight, Ratna is stabbed with a knife. Rhoma is shaken and advised to go to the village to rest. There, he falls in love with Sumi, the village beauty. Misfortune also falls on her when she is attacked with sulphuric acid that ruins her face. Returning to the village, he is surprised to find a woman who is similar to both Ratna and Sumi.

Suryono comes from Solo and is of royal descent. Jeannette a beautiful woman from France. Laila Majenun

A little boy is told the tale about the development of Jakarta, when a village was divided into two, and causing the people to oppose each other. On one side, there is Anton while the other side is lead by Mahmud. Maulana, the village boy whom Anton has adopted, falls in love with Laila, the sister of Mahmud. This love affair irritates Majid, Mahmud’s right-hand man, because he has loves Laila, long before her meeting with Maulana. Maulana and Laila refuse to take sides between the two opposing sides, and try to reconcile them. But a battle is inevitable. In the end, Mahmud kills Anton; but Mahmud dies at the hand of Maulana, his future brother-in-law. Then Maulana runs to Laila’s house and confesses. Laila forgives him, but Majid cannot. He orders a boy to steal the gun of Sabeni, an informant, and he shoots Maulana with it. While the intention was to make this film a musical, it didn’t work as the “realistic world” and the “musical world” could not blend fully.
Karmila
Adapted from a popular novel with the same title, Karmila tells a story about a medical student who becomes pregnant after sexually assaulted at a party.
