March 2020. Fabrizio, a photographer and filmmaker who lives in Luxembourg, returns to his family in central Italy after his father has suffered a heart attack. It’s the beginning of the pandemic, the country is in lockdown. An intimate diary and an ode to filial love in the face of the most trying circumstances a son can face. A tale of the soul and personal hardship in the context of a broader collective tragedy.

Kabwita, a young man living with his wife and daughters in Kolwezi, a town in the southwest of the Democratic Republic of Congo, dreams of buying land to build a house. To do so, he produces charcoal (makala), extracted from the ashes of a mighty hardwood tree. Carrying the sacks of charcoal on the back of his bicycle, he embarks on a dangerous journey to sell them on the market.

In the fields, we see them, extended on the grass or grazing peacefully. Large placid beasts that we thought we knew because they are livestock. Lions, gorillas, bears have our attention, but has anyone ever really looked at cows? Asked what they were doing with their days? What do they do when a storm passes? When the sun comes back? What do they think when they stand motionless, seemingly contemplating the void? Do they think? "Bovines" chronicles the true life of a cow: grazing, ruminating, gazing - but also feeling - mooing with grief, or just enjoying an apple…

Dave Robicheaux es un detective del estado de Louisiana que anda tras la pista de un asesino en serie responsable de la muerte de varias jóvenes. Tras el brutal asesinato de la última víctima, Robicheaux se acerca a la escena del crimen. Allí coincide con la estrella de cine Elrod T. Sykes, que casualmente se encuentra rodando en el lugar de los hechos. Elrod le confiesa que ha visto el cadáver de un hombre negro flotando en medio del pantano. El hallazgo trae a su memoria dolorosos recuerdos de un caso anterior, y Robicheaux empieza a sospechar que los dos casos están en cierto modo relacionados.
