La historia gira en torno a Nishimi Kaoru, un estudiante de primer año de Preparatoria que tiene que mudarse a Sasebo, en Nagasaki, para vivir con sus familiares después de que su padre muera. Allí conoce a sus compañeros de clase, Kawabuchi Sentaro, que es temido por todos porque tiene aspecto de delincuente, y Mukae Ritsuko, que es amiga de la infancia de Sentaro. A través de ellos, se enamora del piano y las técnicas de jazz. Por otro lado, Kaoru se ve envuelto en un cuadrado amoroso, pues se enamora de Ritsuko, pero ella está enamorada de Sentaro, quien a su vez está enamorado de Fukahori Yurika, una estudiante de 2º curso.

Katsu (Mitsuko Baisho) is a 73-years-old woman. She often makes trouble with her biting remarks. While raising a daughter alone, Katsu was unable to live the life she wished for. One day, Katsu goes to a photo studio and takes a picture. She leaves the photo studio, but finds that she is now 20-years-old (Mikako Tabe) again. Katsu changes out of her grandmother clothes, picks out a more youthful style and names herself Setsuko Otori. Later, Katsu decides to take part in a singing contest held in a shopping district. Her singing fascinates the audience and she wins the contest. Katsu begins to move closer to her past dream of becoming a singer.

21-year-old Misora Honzawa went to Tokyo from Aomori. Misora Honzawa happens to see Kumi on TV who is a yoga Instructor and model. By chance, the two women begin to live together. At first Misora Honzawa, who is easygoing, and Kumi, who is high maintenance, do not get along with each other. Because they share interests in yoga they eventually become closer and think about happiness and life.

She is in a relationship with a married man. 39-year-old Sawako works as a web designer and also takes care of her grandmother. -san and her mother take care of her grandmother.
